I decided to try out Elizabeth's shoulder bag tutorial that was featured on the Sew, Mama, Sew blog. I made it as a gift for my son's classroom aide. I used Alexander Henry's "kleo" floral print for the bag, some solid pale pink for the handle and a coordinating dot for the lining. I love the fabric choices together. The bag was very simple and quick to make and would be a perfect project for a beginner. I do think that the opening, especially with the deep slits on the side, is pretty large and I worry that things will fall out of the bag. I think I would modify it some how if I made it again.
I love your fabric choices, too! Thats a pretty nifty bag.
ReplyDeleteYou are certainly making good use of your time. The fabric is wonderful! Great idea for a gift.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you about the opening, but I think it works well as a teacher's bag, so it is easy to slip in grade books and papers. I am still not sure which teacher "won" the bag, so I guess I have to wait until August to get feedback about the one I made! Your fabric choices...superb!!
ReplyDeleteI love the colors of it. My mom just came up with a pattern for one that is similar and I am waiting (or is it begging?)her to make a tutorial. Here's the link if you want to check it out - http://kneedlesandpins.blogspot.com/2009/05/new-bag.html But both of these seem like a great bag especially if they aren't too hard!! My kind of bag. I love your embroidery as well. Good luck with waiting for the little one.
