If you are new to my blog and visiting as part of the Bloggers Quilt Festival, welcome! Hello to all my returning blogger friends.
Today I am sharing my Stained Glass Windows, a cathedral windows quilt. This project definitely feels like my biggest accomplishment this year. I worked on it non stop from about Christmas till mid March. I used the machine to assemble the white squares but I hand sewed all the windows open.
My favorite pictures are those where the light is streaming through the quilt. I noticed how nice it looked hanging over the ironing board with the light from the windows coming from behind so my husband and I rigged it up for a picture.

It measures 40” square and will hang in our front hall at the top of the stairs once we renovate the hall. Of course, it won’t be back lit then so it will look more like this:

I am glad to have this chance to look at the pictures again because the quilt is put away at the moment because our renovation plans changed and we are working on a downstairs bathroom now, not the front hall. It will have its turn soon though, I am sure.
I missed the Sew, Mama, Sew giveaway day so I am planning my own giveaway for early next week. Check back or make me a Favorite if you are afraid of forgetting.
Enjoy the rest of the festival!
That is one of the quilts I have seen today which I just think I need to stop quilting because I will never be that good! It's beautiful. All that white really makes it for me.

PERFECT choice for the festival - I just love this quilt!
ReplyDeleteOne of my all time favorites! I fell asleep thinking of your quilt the other night... no joke!!! : ) I really love how thoughtfully you cut the colored fabrics. I know and recognize most of them but I feel like I'm seeing them in a whole new way. Like the cathedral print? One looks like a sweet little star or flower and another looks like cool circle design. I also love the use of white space and your decision to NOT fill each and everyone.
ReplyDeleteSo there you go... I love it!! But you knew that already. ; )
I really LOOOOOOVE this quilt! I have a tutorial for this, but I've been scared to get started....maybe I should commit myself to just several blocks or so a month, then before i know I'll have a quilt top. Thanks for the great inspiration!

ReplyDeleteSo beautiful! I've been wanting to make a cathedral windows quilt for a long time but I am super intimidated!
ReplyDeleteAmy, I've been following your progress on this quilt, and it's one of my all time favorites. The texture must be to die for... I really want to try a quilt that has some folds or pleats, just to give it that extra something. Your decision to do all white except for the colored prints in the "windows" totally showcases their beauty.
ReplyDeletewhat a charming spring quilt-combining the 4 patch pattern with CW is very effective elevates this quilt over the standard CW. Kudos.
