I hope no one was holding their breath waiting for this post yesterday, as I forgot it completely! Following Potholder Pass 3, there will be a pincushion swap for the summer months. Due to my lack of ability to think of a better name, we will call it Pincushion Pass!
This swap will be run differently from the Potholder Pass. Instead of being a secret swap, you will be matched with one other individual (randomly). I will post the list of matches on Flickr and you will contact your partner via Flickr to discuss color preferences, etc. and exchange addresses. This means that all you need to do to sign up is send me an email with your Flickr screen name or express interest on the Sign Up thread on the Flickr group page. You can sign up between now and then end of May. Partners will be assigned on June 1st. You will have three whole months to make a fabulous pincushion and get it in the mail to your partner by the end of August. This should help everyone work around their vacation schedules and busy summer activities.
I am picturing fancy pincushions, not something that you can whip up in a day but rather something that takes a bit of time. I am thinking of embellishments like beads and embroidery. I am thinking little stuffed masterpieces! I have included some links to pincushion tutorials on the Flickr page to give you some ideas, though many of them are very basic.
When you send your pincushion, you must leave a message on the Flickr page saying that you have shipped. I think it would be fun to include a postcard of your hometown/area with your pincushion too.
If you are interested, join the Flickr group! We have 19 members already. If you are trying to remember if you signed up or not, check the Flickr page. I will post the list of members there. If you have changed your mind, just let me know.
Feel free to grab the Pincushion Pass button from my sidebar. The pincushion pictured was made by Kimberly and she was kind enough to take a picture and send it to me to use for the button design.
