I had a little sandwich baggie full of 2 1/2" squares left over from my nine patch quilt. This tutorial from Pink Penguin calls for 2" squares so I decided to make half square triangles with my 2 1/2" squares. This brought me pretty close to 2" squares. I could have trimmed them but instead I just enlarged the basket dimensions by 1/2" overall. I also stitched the squares together for one side of the handles. I did a little extra quilting before sewing it up as well. I like the added touches. Now I need to find a use for this basket. I had originally thought I would use it to hold my safety pins for quilt basting but I like to throw them into a container and not bother to close them up first. They might get caught on the fabric. It might be better to use a metal or plastic container. But then what do I use this for? It is too cute to sit around empty!

ReplyDeleteI love how you made yours, Amy. I made the same baskets last year for end of the year gifts for Amelia's teachers. I made one for Amelia and she used it as a hat. LOL. We use hers for little toys and such. I'm sure you'll find a good use for yours.
