Timothy's class is having a holiday party on Thursday and they were looking for volunteers to run various stations. I signed up for the Finnish paper star because I had the supplies in the house and I found them appealing. I just made up a sample and am looking toward Thursday with a good deal of dread! I think that this craft will be rather tricky for some of the second graders. Aren't they pretty though? I think it is a terrific craft for older elementary school kids and crafty adults too!
Edited to add: My strips are 12" long and .6" wide. You need 12 of them per star. And while I volunteered for the project, I did not choose the project, so there is no turning back!
It's a gorgeous star and a nice variation on the ones we've been making for years, I think I'll get the kids busy on this asap! Good luck with the 2nd graders...I think it might be a little tricky. What size paper strips are you going to use with them?
ReplyDeleteFabulous star Amy!
ReplyDeletevery cool! And you are very, very brave. :)
ReplyDeleteIt's very pretty! Do you have a tutorial that you're using?
ReplyDeleteIt is beautiful! Good luck! :)
ReplyDeleteWhoa nelly....just LOOKING at that thing gives me flashbacks to Bella's 1st grade class...yikes!! I thought I would be the crafty mom when I sat with her class for the annual teachers' Christmas Luncheon and have them cut snowflakes...that was a MESS. I ended up cutting most of the snowflakes for the kids. I think you will be making LOTS of these. But hey, have fun anyway!! :) I did...and the kids thought I was pretty cool for knowing how to make snowflakes!! HA!!
ReplyDeleteHello!
ReplyDeleteI just found your blog today and it is so inspirational to me as I also sew for my little girl. I've just added you in my Google reader. I will be dropping by frequently!
