Remember Lily's dress that I showed you a few days ago? I finished Penny's dress last night using the same material and a pattern that is similar in that it is also a jumper with box pleats. This pattern is New Look 6769. Her measurements fell right between a size 1 and 2 so I went with the 2. It is slightly long but I left it that way because I think I can get two years out of it! I have my mom to thank for the nice neat zipper. I have mentioned here before that sewing zippers into clothing is probably my biggest sewing frustration. I have become decently good at it when using cotton or flannel but I just knew that this velveteen would give me trouble. My mom said that it was tricky so I am so glad that she did it for me!
And no dress up outfit is complete without new hair bows! Lily will wear the two barrettes and Penny, the little clip.
It's sew pretty!!!!
ReplyDeleteSweeeeeeeet!:) That clip would even be cute on the front of the jumper!;)
ReplyDeleteYeah, zippers are not too bad on cotton but when you get to that thicker stuff...no way!;)
So..what is big bro wearing...did you make him a vest or tie from the fabric?:)
Wow I really love the pleats n colour of this dress. Well done! Thank you for dropping by my blog
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! What a great match with the patterns...and the hairbows are a really nice touch. Hooray for moms who do the tricky stuff...I like it when my mom helps out, too! :)
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, they will be such beautiful little girls in these outfits. I LOVE the colour of their dresses!!!!
ReplyDeleteso super cute!!! I love the color! They are going to look so cute!
ReplyDeleteThose are totally adorable!!! I love the color and how they match but not the same.
ReplyDeleteHair bows are perfect :)
This is beautiful! How nice that your mom can help you with the zippers. I hope you'll share a photo of the girls in their new outfits after Christmas!
ReplyDeleteThese are gorgeous! Items like these would get picked up in a heartbeat at www.thredup.com, where we trade kids clothing and toys. There is a group of ladies who custom make items for users to swap out, in order to swap in new-to-them items for their own children. Really spectacular bows!
