More Butterflies

I have been printing more butterfly linocut fat quarters for my shop. I thought that you might like to see some pictures of the process. Once my fabric is prewashed and ironed and ready to go, I roll my ink with a brayer.

I then apply it evenly to my block.

I then press the block down firmly for a count of five and lift it carefully straight up while holding the material down.

And I repeat these steps over and over again until my fat quarter is complete.

I printed a second version in hot pink as well!

  1. Wow that looks so good. I love the hot pink. Can you do this with normal stamps (like the ones for cards?

  6. I use silkscreen ink. I have tried a couple of brands. These two are Versatex. Yes, the fabric can be washed in cold water and dried on low heat. You can sew it into a project just as you would any other piece of fabric. It can be ironed on high and has been prewashed. My daughter has a printed tshirt that I have washed countless times and it looks great.
