A couple of days ago, I made a linen iPhone pouch for my son's teacher. I'm back today to share a tutorial with you in case you'd like to make one. This is the sample that I made using some fussy cut Sherbert Pips on the front. I loved swinging as a child so this one is for me to keep! I don't have an iPhone but my cell phone fits in here along with a credit card and license.
When you print the pattern, please remember to print it at 100% scale or else your phone will not fit! The finished dimensions of the pouch are 3" x 5."

One of my blogging friends suggested that I put links to my tutorials on my sidebar. It was something I had been meaning to do but hadn't so I added those just yesterday. Check them out by scrolling down.

thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteVery cute case. Love your fabric choice. I have been looking for a place to have labels made and I noticed your tag on the side of the case. That is a nice touch.. I was wondering where you had it made?
ReplyDeleteAnother Great Christmas Present
ReplyDeleteMany people I know have bought themselves iPhones this year so I shall be making a few of these
i can't see either your tutorial, or your pattern!( i don't have photoshop elements) is there any way i could get those? I tried to view it on regular photoshop but it won't let me see it without a product password
ReplyDeleteIzzie, I can't contact you because you didn't provide an email address. The file is a pdf-you just need to download Adobe Acrobat Reader which is free.
DeleteAnother possibility is that you didn't print the pattern at "scaling none" and it printed out too small.

ReplyDeleteThank you for the great tutorial. I made it for my Samsung Galaxy phone by enlarging the pattern just a little. Here is my finished pouch:

Thank you for this wonderful phone case but for some reason with the fleece interfacing I lost 1inch in width. It was perfect until I turned it to the right side. Any feed back.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Judy
Judy, phone sizes changed slightly after I made this pattern. You should always check your phone to the paper pattern. If your phone already has a plastic cover, for instance, you will have to go bigger. There is no reason that I can think of that you should have lost an inch in width due to the fusible fleece. It does not have that much bulk. However, a 1/4" seam allowance on both sides, will account to a 1" loss in width. That was taken into consideration, however. If your phone doesn't fit, you should just alter the pattern slightly to accomodate it.
DeleteI should say that the seam allowances would result in a 1/2" loss in width, 1" all around.
DeleteThanks for your response, I measured twice and measure my phone, with out case. I did make adjustment on length but for some reason the width just didn't make the cut. I made adjustment to the pattern late last night and hope to have a success store today. I wish I could do it this morning but off to work. Excited to try again.
ReplyDeleteJudy
I hope it works out ok today. I do know that the newer phones are about 1/4" bigger so many people have found success by adding another 1/4". I hope that does it for you.
DeleteI finished the cutest phone pouch. If I was tech savvy I would post a pic, but not happening. I did increase the width by 5/8", as for interfacing I cut the seam allowances off with made it easy to sew and turn. Side note, how do I subscribe to you blog?
ReplyDeleteThanks Judy
If you look on the right side bar, down toward the bottom, there is a "join this site" link and a "follow by email" option. I am glad that the pouch worked out for you this time.

ReplyDeleteGosh...I have adobe and everything is updated...but your pdf is not highlighted. I can see it on the screen but when I try to open it ... the new page comes up blank?
ReplyDeleteAny thoughts?
This case is so adorable!

I'm not sure. I can see the link find and it is highlighted and opens for me. You could try another browser and see if that does the trick. Otherwise, contact me with your email address and I will send you the file.
