My mother has a wooden bench by the wood stove in her kitchen and mentioned that she'd like a couple of pillows there. I was excited to finally have an excuse to use Ayumi's teapot pattern! I have had my eye on it for some time now. I made this pillow for my mom for Mother's Day.
I used the new DS Quilts line for much of the pillow along with a little Bliss, navy Herringbone Modern Meadow, Kona Snow and a red floral from my LQS. The teacup is a free paper piecing pattern from Piece by Number. It can be found here.
I had fun making the steam using some free motion quilting. I have been wanting to try swirls for awhile and this was the perfect opportunity. I found that turning this picture to black and white made the quilting clearer.
I really had fun making this pillow and delivered it to my mom this afternoon. Happy Mother's Day to all you mothers out there!
