Here is a final project made from the last of "My Happy Place" test prints. I'm hoping that all these project inspire you to try some of your own once my fabric is available. I am hoping to add it to my shop midweek. For this armrest pincushion, I used my tutorial.
An armrest pincushion is a must for those who sew on the couch! It will save you and your loved ones from sitting on pins! Simply rest the pincushion over the armrest and hold your scissors, tape measure and other notions in the side pockets.
My print is used for the side pockets. The reverse side of the pincushion is made with Alexander Henry’s Farmdale apple print and is quilted with a free motion leaf design. The pincushion is stuffed with fiberfill and made with Moda’s Bliss dots in scarlet and pink. The binding is Kona chartreuse. These fabrics make for a cheery little combo.
You can fold the pockets under and store your pincushion like this when not in use...if that happens in your house!
This pincushion is in my shop.
I can't believe that I never saw this tutorial!!
ReplyDeleteIt is perfect with your new happy print!! what a super gift this will make plus having for myself as well :)
Thank YOU!!
Great job. Well done.
ReplyDeleteWell, it's not in the shop anymore! It's mine! All mine!
ReplyDeleteI've needed something just like this for when I sit on the couch and stitch up quilt bindings. My husband is tired of the pins and scissors sitting on the arm of the couch. I am just so excited to use it, and that it has your special fabric in it as well.
Ack! I just went to the shop but Krista (above) beat me to it!!!
ReplyDeleteGreat tip! May have to give your tute a try.... once I am finished picking these pins out of my arse ;) Definitely would be useful!
ReplyDeleteso pretty Amy! your print and the apples go great together. what a lovely all-purpose pincushion too. i could make myself one of these couldn't I?...
ReplyDeleteI love this! I am so going to make this. Offially, on the to do list. You need to make a list in your sidebar of all your tutorials!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea!! I have bookmarked your tute - I have the same issue as Krista. The scissors, thread and pins all balanced on the arm of the couch....Your solution is perfect and I LOOOVE your fabric, too.
ReplyDeleteMissed it! That is such a good idea - my sofa always has pins sticking out of the arms, and I lose my scissors between the seat cushions.

your print is so cute. and i'll definitely have to try your tutorial. i keep close track of my pins with a little one, but i keep losing my scissors and binding clips.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea! I definitely need one of these. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteJennifer :)
What a fabulous pincushion! So bright and cheery. I'm just sad that I missed it in the shop. I guess I'll have to go to the tutorial.
