Peg and Becca from Sew Fresh Fabrics are now carrying Diawabo and Yuwa fabrics from Japan! How awesome is that? For me it means fabrics from Japan shipped to me from right down the road. In an effort to keep you from feeling to jealous about that, I can't enter this giveaway, but you can!

This print is my absolute favorite. It's Daiwabo Japan Sewing Notions from Fumika Oishi. I just ordered some in advance of the giveaway in case you guys sell them out!
If you haven't ordered from Sew Fresh Fabrics before, you don't know what you are missing. They have a wonderful selection of fabrics (now even better with these Japanese prints) and they are so wonderfully friendly.
The winner of the giveaway (to be drawn on Monday) will win the fat quarter stack pictured at the top of this blog post. It's a great variety of prints. I have a fondness for the elephants. To enter, please just leave one comment telling me your biggest sewing inhibition/fear. I will tell you that mine is putting zippers in garments. In pouches it's no problem but they are so challenging for me in clothing!
There is another Sew Fresh Fabric giveaway on One Shabby Chick's blog! You can try to win Yuwa there!
Winners of Lovin' Loulouthi Giveaway from Tuesday are at the end of this post and have been notified.
I don't do zippers in pants :-(
ReplyDeleteMy biggest fear is curved piecing. I keep telling myself to try it and myself just doesn't listen! Thanks for hosting this great giveaway.
ReplyDeleteMy fear which I'm currently attempting to face is curved piecing. I"m working on a double wedding ring and so far the curved piecing is winning. :(
ReplyDeleteSewing on binding by machine, no matter how careful I am I never get it the way I want it. Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteMy biggest fear in sewing is fitting garments, so I stick to quilts! Thanks.
ReplyDeleteMine is sewing tops! They just never ever turn out like I want them to
ReplyDeleteThanks for the sweet giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI still find cutting through a fabric to be very intimidating :(
My biggest fear is cutting. I measure and measure and triple check and then I cringe everytime I make a cut. I like to buy precuts which limits me sometimes on what kind of fabrics I choose. I would love to be more confident in cutting my fabric!
ReplyDeleteI love Sew Fresh. Becca and Peg game and talked to the BMQG a while back and were awesome. My biggest inhibition is still machine quilting. I've certainly improved over time, but I'm not nearly as advanced as I would like to be.
ReplyDeleteI fear free motion work. Garments are a close second - I always want to try making clothes, but they always turn out so ugly!
ReplyDeleteI just can't do binding. I've tried and tried and I get worse at it with every attempt! If you fancy a laugh, I blogged about it here:
ReplyDeletehttp://thecraftersapprentice.blogspot.com/2011/11/worlds-worst-ever-binding.html
I'm intimidated by zippers and buttons. Perhaps some time.
ReplyDeleteI am really scared of making clothes, though I've decided to try and conquer that fear in 2012, we'll see how that goes. Thanks Sew Fresh Fabrics for the giveaway, I've never been disappointed when I purchased fabrics there!
ReplyDeleteMy biggest sewing fear is serging. I don't even have a serger! Ha! I think it's just the finality of serging that freaks me out. If you mess up, you've already cut a chunk off. Yikes.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance! Those elephants are definitely charming.
I never did free motion quilting. It scares me a bit off, even I really would love to learn it.Perhaps next year?
ReplyDeleteI am really afraid of put in sleeves... The only thing which keeps me from making more clothes for myself...
ReplyDeleteZIPPERS FREAK ME OUT!!! OY!
ReplyDeleteSo glad I found your blog via One Shabby Chick; you're on my Google Reader now and I look forward to reading more! :)
In love sew fresh - just ordered an awesome yuwa fq stack! My biggest inhibition is buttonholes and buttons. My brain knows it isn't that bad, but I avoid any project with them. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fab giveaway! My worst sewing fear is FMQ. I can never seem to get even stitches and I'm always afraid I'll ruin a quilt if I try it!
ReplyDeleteMy biggest fear is that it will scream "homemade" from a mile away. Curved piecing is my other fright.
ReplyDeleteMy biggest fear is buttonholes. I think I'm too picky and mine are just never "right". Thanks for the giveaway, the fabric is awesome!
ReplyDeleteI think my biggest fear in sewing is how my item will be received. Sometimes I know the things I make are lovely, but then when I give them, I just don't know!
ReplyDeletebuttonholes!!! argh
ReplyDeleteI would love to make some fancy little girl dresses using organza, silk and tulle but I am so afraid of ruining the fabric.
ReplyDeleteI would have to say my biggest fear would probably garments in general. I epically fail every time I try to sew something for myself.
ReplyDeleteHmm. Probably sewing clothes. I'd love to do it, but I'm afraid I'll spend all of that money/time and it won't fit!
ReplyDeleteMy biggest fear is sewing pants--can't get them to fit for anything!
ReplyDeletei've had a roll of cute japanese laminated fabric waiting to become a rain jacket but i'm petrified of trying to fit this jacket and i don't want to use pins and poke holes in the laminate!
ReplyDeleteMy biggest sewing worry is easing sleeves into armholes when sewing tops.
ReplyDeleteMy biggest sewing fear is not using a pattern. I have ideas, but I'm afraid to mess it up and waste the fabric!
ReplyDeleteZippers period! I've done them and sometimes they are perfect and other times a complete mess.
ReplyDeleteMy biggest would be making slipcovers. I've always wanted to but I'm just to terrified to get started.
ReplyDeleteMy biggest fear is to choose the wrong fabric for a particular project!, as it happened to me last week!.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the giveaway!
I am terrified to try paper piecing!
ReplyDeleteI'm a bit intimidated by very detailed patterns for women's clothing. I've made some simple items and plenty of clothes for my daughter. Just need to tackle the more complex, custom-fitted item for myself! Thanks for the giveaway - gorgeous fabric!
ReplyDeleteI love Sew Fresh Fabric- their range is excellent! Sewing fear- I find metal poppers a nightmare to put in! Face the fear, do it anyway...
ReplyDeleteI so desire to learn free motion writing with my machine, still intimidated by it...
ReplyDeleteAny garment sewing is scary territory for me. Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteelizabeth.rea15@gmail.com
My biggest fear is binding tape. I've only used it a couple of times, and I just can't seem to get it to look right, especially around curved/corner areas.
ReplyDeletelollydollops@gmail.com
making adult size clothing, lol! i've got to try i know.
ReplyDeleteMy fear is shiny slippery fabric and boning!
ReplyDeleteBy biggest sewing fear is still knits. One day I'm just gonna have to give it a go and get over it! :)
ReplyDeleteGreat giveaway! Thanks!
Using the buttonholer attachment, that scares me to pieces. In an instant you can ruin all your hard work but I'm trying to learn :)
ReplyDeleteZippers! I plan on conquering that fear soon however. Thanks for the give away chance.
ReplyDeleteI love SFF and order from them often. My biggest sewing fear is free motion quilting. Slowly but surely I am learning.

ReplyDeleteFree motion quilting - it just never looks like it does in my head!
ReplyDeletemy biggest fear is clothing - fitting clothing, specifically. that's why i LOVE quilts - easy to fit!
ReplyDeletebess :)
I'm scared of curved seams!
ReplyDeleteLove those fabrics!
ReplyDeleteI think I've sewn so long I can't think of any fear sewing except picking the right fabric! I really hate that part.
Sleeves would have to be it. I do not like putting sleeves on garments!
ReplyDeleteMy biggest fear is cutting into a beautiful piece of fabric and ruining it!
ReplyDeleteWell I don't mind zippers in clothes but I can't do zippers in little pouches!!
ReplyDeleteMy biggest fear is making clothes fit me and look great on me.
ReplyDeleteI really want to try improvisational piecing, but I can't seem to tear myself away from straight lines and planned design.
ReplyDeleteBiggest sewing fear = learning to use my poor, neglected, unused serger! The thought of 4 spools of thread all geting tangled up terrifies me! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm like "Monk" in that I'm not limited to just one sewing fear.I'm afraid of sewing for myself. That is generally a disaster. I'm afraid of picking out fabric for clothes for myself as well...I do fine for other people's clothing or quilts....but not for me. I'm afraid of marking things and not being able to get the marks out. I always wonder if I've made a quality item...how it holds up to use...or if it falls apart. I'm afraid of things looking "homemade" and I'm afraid of how my sewing will be judged when I send something in a swap. But truly my biggest fear...is sewing through my finger again :-)
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteLove the give away! My biggest fear at this point in my sewing safari is picking the fabric...so afraid of putting something together that really doesn go:(
ReplyDeleteOh, great giveaway Amy!! I'm excited about these fabrics - I love everything from Japan, but cannot find any fabric in real life locally. Inset seams used to be my nemesis, but I think I've managed them now, garment sewing in general is my biggest fear for sure.
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteCurved piecing for sure!
ReplyDeleteCan you believe I'm scared of buttonholes?? Lol Great giveaway! Hope I win!
ReplyDeleteButtonholes! Ack, I feel my blood pressure rising just as I type the words. I, too, have a fondness for the elephants! And the sewing print is just the cutest. I am imagining some great fussy cuts using those sweet spools!
ReplyDeleteEverything! I am teaching myself to sew and I can not tell you how many needles I have broken. I even sewed through the tip of a finger. :P I am getting better although I think right now... my biggest challenge that I have not started.... Working with elastic thread for shirring.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you - zippers are scary. But also making something that really truly fits.
ReplyDeleteMy biggest sewing inhibition is dense quilting. I love it when other people do it, but I haven't yet been inclined to do it myself. >_<
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance to win!
My biggest sewing fear is curves. I would love to try some quilt patterns with curves but..eeek
ReplyDeletehomespunhandmaiden(at)yahoo(dot)com
I'm scared of piecing curves...i just conquered zippers but this still throws me.
ReplyDeleteMy biggest fear is that my creativity will never be considered art, or even beautiful, but a contrived, rehashed P.O.S. Yes, I'm that critical about my own work. Which is why I love to see what other people do--I'm always amazed and smiling!
ReplyDeleteLove the fabric, I need to try out FMQ as so far I have only quilted straight lines!
ReplyDeleteMy biggest fear is Free Motion Quilting, I only do straight lines!
ReplyDeleteoh yes...love Sew Fresh! any zipper confounds me and paper peicing terrifies me!
ReplyDeleteMy biggest fear is sewing with fabrics other than cotton. I've tried jersey knit, so I'm working on it!
ReplyDeleteI am always paralysed when I need to sew a zip and put it off as long as possible! Thanks for a lovely giveaway I would love this gorgeous fabrics.
ReplyDeletePlease don't make me do curved piecing! Thanks.
ReplyDeleteI have stayed away from making clothing---zippers and button holes are scarey!
ReplyDeletemaking clothing for myself if intimidating, kids fine, but for myself, scared of making something too small :) Have ordered from Sew Fresh several times and always happy! Thank you for the wonderful giveaway!
ReplyDeleteMy biggest sewing fear is sewing curves and circles!! Even the easy 6 minute circle scares me!
ReplyDeleteI do zippers but, NOT buttonholes
ReplyDeleteMine would definitely be curves! I am determined to actually try sewing them soon though, I'm sure it wont' be as bad as I'm anticipating ; )
ReplyDeleteI have a bunch, zippers, curves, Y seams...Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteMy biggest fear is binding my first quilt! And also free motion quilting is kinda scary too! Thanks for a chance to win this beautiful fabric! :)
ReplyDeleteMy biggest sewing inhibition is the difficulty I have cutting into any fabric that I really love. My fabric stash grows and grows with fabrics that I think are beautiful but I'm scared of ruining them by cutting them up! How stupid huh, I'm currently making a big effort to try to get over this
ReplyDeleteMy biggest fear is picking fabric, I always seem to use one fabric I later regret :-/
ReplyDeleteMine is machine quilting...
ReplyDeletezippers and button holes - hands down!! Not happening at this house! (love, love, love the elephants)
ReplyDeleteMy biggest fear is convertible collars. We did a sample in my sewing class in college and it seemed like NO ONE could get them right. Not a single person, so I tend to shy away from them. That and fussy fabrics like velvet and chiffon.
ReplyDeleteI'm scared of curves!
ReplyDeleteMy biggest sewing fear is sewing a dress or top for myself - baby/toddler clothes are so easy, but I just don't quite know how to adjust a pattern for myself.
ReplyDeleteI'm not really afraid of anything, sewing or otherwise. Perhaps it's my age, 67; but I really can't thing of a fear, sewing or not.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful stack of fabric, love the elephants.
It's got to be a tie between zippers and buttonholes. I can and have done both, but they paralyze me!
ReplyDeleteNot technically sewing, but...
ReplyDeleteCutting fabric, I'm always so paranoid I'll cut something wrong and completely mess up my beautiful and expensive fabric.
Sleeves always get me... i keep trying though, and am determined to conquer them! Thanks for a chance to win!!
ReplyDeleteI would have to say that my biggest fear is button holes, I even have a special foot and button on my sewing machine but I am still a scaredy-cat (mew!).
ReplyDeletefree motion quilting scares me because I'm afraid to sew through my finger!
ReplyDeleteOoooh what gorgeous fabric!
ReplyDeleteMy biggest fear is putting domes onto jeans or trousers - I had one go wrong once and that little one-minute job completely ruined a pair of jeans I'd been making. Now I have a moment of fear every time I go to attach one, in case it goes wrong and ruins several hours of sewing! :-/
My biggest fear is matching patterns, actually cutting them out so they match. I get so confused at times and then soooo frustrated!!!!
ReplyDeleteI am so excited about winning the pillow kit and can't wait to make it! Not only am I surprised to have one but to have won when I was the last comment.
Thank you sooo much!!
I would have to say zippers on dresses. I avoid making a dress with zippers! Skirts are ok...
ReplyDeleteI have to say any cutting of fabric... I have a super hard time with math to start with and then I get myself worked up and confused and cut wrong lol... I usually find out when it's too late :)
ReplyDeleteFree motion stitching definitely....last time I did it I was so nervous I'd mess things up I ended up with a horrible ache in my shoulders!
ReplyDeleteI would have to say that my biggest fear is sewing for myself. I've certainly tried but haven't worn anything I've made.
ReplyDeleteGarments for grownups! Scary stuff with all that fitting and altering. I'll stick to patchwork. :)
ReplyDeleteI do not like sewing clothes. I have no idea how to alter patterns to make them fit my strange body. It is difficult buying and worse sewing for myself.
ReplyDeleteI cannot bring myself to use the darning foot I bought about 2 years ago. I am afraid to try free motion quilting. I just keep on quilting straight lines!
ReplyDeleteI am afraid to try free motion quilting.
ReplyDeletemy biggest fear is FMQ - i am so darn scared of it!!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful fabric! My biggest sewing inhibition is sewing garments. I am curvy (small waist, big hips) and I have a really hard time making things that fit my shape.
ReplyDeleteLove that fabric! I usually like a challenge in sewing but I dread making hems on dresses or cuffs, etc.. they never turn out even! lol
ReplyDeleteOver-pressing. I love what steam does, but it's too dangerous for me. I always have to dry press because I end up stretching everything out and I hate the way it looks.
ReplyDeleteMy fear is adding binding to anything and also button holes. Haven't gone there yet.....lol!
ReplyDeleteGreat fabric! If you promise not to laugh I will tell you my biggest fear is free motion quilting. How silly is that? It takes me so long to actually put the blocks together I am afraid I will ruin it so I either cross hatch or straight line quilt it. Thanks for a chance at your awesome giveaway!
ReplyDeleteZippers and collars are two things I just don't like doing
ReplyDeletei am scared to sew clothes for myself. not sure why - just too afraid!
ReplyDeleteMy fear is straight line quilting because its never straight no matter how I try.
ReplyDeleteI have yet to try piecing curves or free-motion quilting. Eeek! It terrifies me!
ReplyDeleteMy biggest inhibition/fear is Y seams. My stitching just isn't precise enough, I fear.
ReplyDeleteButton holes. They never worked on my old sewing machine and I haven't deared making any on my 'new' machine that I have had for two years now ...
ReplyDeleteWhat lovely elephant fabric! My biggest fear is puttin a lot of effort into making a garment an not being able to get it to fit properly!
ReplyDeleteIt's interesting what we each think is difficult when it comes to sewing. I can do zippers, but piping for some reason is one thing that I have really avoided. Maybe I should make a resolution this year to master it? :)
ReplyDeleteOh I love these fabrics! My biggest inhibition is giving away the items I sew! I once had a friend give back the item I made for her, telling me that she didn't like homemade things in her home. Now I am always afraid that the person I am giving something to won't like it. Makes me sad.
ReplyDeleteHand quilting! It is something I am desparate to try but I am scared to try it without some professional guidance first!
ReplyDeleteLove the fabric!
Love the elephants. My biggest fear is cutting. I'm nervous about cutting out with large scissors and with my cutter I can sometimes drift away from the ruler. Nightmare time.
ReplyDeleteLovely fabric- thank for the giveaway. Biggest fear- that the person I made something for will never use what I made them.
ReplyDeleteMine is zippers and button holes...
ReplyDeleteThanks!

Yes, I do not do zippers either. I so want to make a box pouch but it has a zipper. Thank you for a chance at beautiful fabric.
ReplyDeleteIn response to Jessica (125) do not be afraid to try hand quilting. You can sandwich a top bottom and batting and place in hoop and try hand quilting. No sewing required. It takes much practice to get your stitches small, and close together. Focus more on uniform and small and close will come with time.
Not so much a fear but avoidance for me is the actual quilting. I know I should just do it and then I'll get better at it and not avoid it. I enjoy it too, I'm just kind of afraid of making mistakes that are hard to undo.
ReplyDeleteMine is zippers, too. Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteMy biggest sewing fear is machine quilting!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway!
Courtenay
Zippers are my biggest fear! I try to tackle that fear every once in awhile!
ReplyDeleteI used to be terrified of curved seams. I took several classes featuring curved seams and overcame my fear. Now I love them, not, but I'm not afraid of them any more.
ReplyDeleteI am afraid of curved seams also, it seems to be a trend here, lol! Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI have a fear of making clothing. I don't know why. I make everything else, but making something to wear is so intimidating.
ReplyDeleteMy biggest sewing fear is interfacing! Yes that's right, why does it wrinkle sometimes and not others, I hate using it but use it every week! Not sure what to do!
ReplyDeletethanks for a great giveaway
My fear is making something - especially in a swap - and the recipient thinking it's not good enough.
ReplyDeleteZippers !! Zippers!! Zippers !! Those fabrics are yummy !!

The quilting stage of quilting always makes me nervous--after working so hard on the top, I don't want to mess it up!
ReplyDeleteZippers and buttonholes - but I'm getting better and braver....
ReplyDeletesewing clothes that fit me.
ReplyDeleteMine would be sewing from a pattern. I know that's so odd - but I'm definitely more comfortable winging it.
ReplyDeleteZippers for sure. I've sewn 4 recently and the last time before that was in grade 8 (a long time ago!!)I'm not 100% but am getting better for sure.
ReplyDeleteWaste. I've cut enough pieces wrong to fear doing it again and wasting precious fabric. I'm not afraid of zippers ever since I worked in summer stock theater and put in 50 in about 2 weeks. It helps when it's for someone else; you care less.
ReplyDeleteRushing! I always want to finish a piece so don't take enough care..
ReplyDeleteMy biggest fear at the moment? Actually doing the quilting on one of my quilts. I have yet to try it. I'm so worried about really messing it up especially after I spent so much time piecing the top.
ReplyDeleteWow, lovely fabrics!
ReplyDeleteI’m pretty fearless as it comes to quilting. I’m not crazy about FMQ but I prefer the straight lines anyway.
However, I always fear my swap-partners won’t like my gifts, silly, but true!
I just discovered your blog and I am really enjoying it. Please sign me up to be eligible for your giveaway.
ReplyDeleteLove great blogs that I find from other link, little treasures ! I am totally intimidated by piecing circles, I've seen tutorials on how to do it .. still might be a while before I get there ! Mind you I have paper pieced one quarter of one and thought it was madness so it stays as a WIP ! Thanks for the giveaway !
ReplyDeleteFree motion quilting makes me so tense and I really struggle with it.
ReplyDeleteThat fabric is so pretty. Thanks for a chance to win!!
Hmmm... I wouldn't say it's a fear, but I have to learn how to spend more time doing things that challenge me. I have been sticking with super simple patterns in order to make the number of quilts I want to make & on time. Time, I guess that is the real culprit.
ReplyDeleteI fear I don't have the time to make the awesome quilts I envision. Instead, they all turn into strip quilts!
I'm new to quilting, and always worried I'll mess up the quilting portion of the project- I certainly have some stitch length issues at times. Thanks for the chance to win!
ReplyDeleteI actually enjoy the process of FMQ on my machine now that I have a new one with a large throat!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful fabric line! Thanks for the opportunity to win.
Free motion quilting these days. Zippers in garments as well!
ReplyDeleteUsing the last piece of a favourite line knowing it is not available any more.
ReplyDeleteJudith.
judithlynes(at)btinternet(dot)com
I am afraid of zippers. And really afraid that one of these days I am going to sew over my finger or a needle will break and poke my eye out. I know... I am a little dramatic. :)
ReplyDeleteI hate zippers, so afraid that I'll have to rip them out and try again!
ReplyDeletei'm a bit intimidated by huge volumes of fabric - like curtains - drives me to distracton! thanks for the opportunity
ReplyDeleteFree motion quilting. The fabric is so cute-I love it!
ReplyDeleteMy biggest fear are curves..maybe just because I'm too impatient and I think I'd have to do the curves very slowly :-)
ReplyDeleteI grew up sewing, and then have slacked off. I have now gotten back into it, and I just need to take it slow. I just bought a coat pattern and I will try making it now with a sew along.. I am terrified!!!!!
ReplyDeletejessicarwarfield at gmail dot com
I'm scared of machine quilting, which is getting to be a problem as quilt tops are starting to pile up!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the gorgeous giveaway :)
LOVE the elephants!!!! Pick me! thanks for the chance.....I am still hand quilting, but really LOVE it. I am going to try machine in the new year....
ReplyDeleteLove love the new sewing notions fabric!Sewing fears are many. Probably the biggest is zippers in general-I need to try some asap! Awesome giveaway!
ReplyDeleteFmq is my biggest challenge right now. I love it but it doesn't turn out very good (yet!). Thanks for a chance to win some pretty fabric!
ReplyDeleteI'm still scared to sew a piece of clothing - I don't like following patterns
ReplyDeleteHmm.. I would say the tie between zippers and buttonholes.
ReplyDeletemy fear is sewing the bethlehem star pattern AKA lone star. I can never seem to get the diamonds to come out right
ReplyDeleteMy fear is trying to line everything up. It always turns out crooked.
ReplyDeleteI have a real phobia about sewing Cathedral Window blocks! Ugh!
ReplyDeleteMine is the same as yours - sewing zippers on clothes - I do anything to try to avoid them!
ReplyDeleteWhat I fear most about sewing... geez that's a good question. I think sewing in collars or necklines is probably my biggest fear. They are so prominent and out there for everyone to see. If you mess up a collar, you've messed up the whole blouse, dress, shirt, sweater. Needless to say, I pretty much avoid all of the above... :)
ReplyDeleteMy biggest sewing fear ... free machine quilting. I can do straight lines, but my first attempts at free quilting were not pretty.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure I have one, I'm willing to attempt just about anything, and I have plenty of fails, but not sure I have real fears. Maybe curved piecing is a slight inhibition, eventually I get around to it, but psych myself up first.
ReplyDeleteMy biggest fear is sewing things with circles (I still remember a nightmare block from my sampler)...
ReplyDeleteToo late to sneak into the pool? My sewing fear? That I will finish the whole item beautifully but then make a big mistake at the end, like messing up the buttonholes or sewing the armhole closed.
ReplyDeleteI love these fabrics-such a fun mix! My biggest fear is sewing something without a pattern. I admire anyone who can do that and someday I will be brave enough to try!
ReplyDeleteMy biggest fear in sewing is using the button foot on my sewing machine. I just can't get the hang of it and it always ruins my work and yet I keep on trying every time! x
ReplyDeleteAlas, I would have to say zippers.
ReplyDelete
