I made my first Inset Zip Pouch, pattern by Keyka Lou. I've been wanting to try this pattern for awhile because I have never installed an inset zipper. The directions were clear, as I have come to expect from Keyka Lou patterns, and the pouch came together without a hitch. I like this pattern because it allows you to feature a small bit of a special fabric. I used my mustard Petticoat screenprint for the center panel.
I used Anna Maria Horner voile for the exterior because it was such a good match and a Jennifer Paganelli Queen Street print in pink for the interior. The mustard zippers from Zipit are the perfect match for mustard Petticoat!
Gorgeous fabric choices and what a cool pattern!
ReplyDeleteYes, it is nice to be able to showcase a fabric. I love that inset zipper. I never buy these patterns but I may have to get that one so I learn how to do them!:)
ReplyDeleteYour little labels just "make" these projects!:)
Oh...and I love the background on your header. Did you take a photo of some fabric or just find that on a photoshop type program?
Your pouch is gorgeous! Great selection of fabrics. Speaking of...I got my Petticoats in the mail yesterday and love them! I just realized you have a Flickr group..duh. I've been playing with my Butterfly screen print and want to show you where I'm going with it (so to speak).
ReplyDeleteGreat pouch! I need to get that pattern.
ReplyDeleteHow lovely!
ReplyDeleteLooks great- I have this pattern sitting at home waiting to be used! You've inspired me to dig it out and have a go over the holidays. I love Keyka Lou patterns and I think her method of in set zips is the easiest to work with. Good job!
ReplyDeletethat inset zipper is so cool. way to go.
ReplyDeleteOh your fabric looks great using that pattern! looks like a fun pattern to try and hopefully soon I can get some of your fabric!!!
ReplyDeleteVery nice, Amy! I love the fabric!
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful pouch!! Your work is always so polished :) If you don't mind me asking, what (if anything) did you use for interfacing? Sometimes when I use fusible fleece, it leaves the pouches looking a little chubby rather than crisp, like yours! Anyway, yours is lovely. A few pieces of your fabric are on my Christmas list this year :)
ReplyDeleteSuper cute!
ReplyDeleteI avoid zips so am envious of those who tackle them :) gorgeous job and love the colours.
ReplyDeleteI love the zip bag and know exactly what i would use it for. And the seam ripper is a gorgeous piece of art that we can use!
ReplyDeleteMy new years resolution with regards to sewing it that whatever project I work on, while I do my best work, it must be fun, bring me joy and connect me with my creative energy, which will better fuel there rest of who I am. I am committed to not having to do it right' but to find joy in the process.
Thanks for the chance!
