Summerlove Blooms Tutorial


I'm excited to share my first project as a member of the Art Gallery Fabrics Fat Quarter Gang!  I designed this paper pieced pillow cover pattern that I am calling Summerlove Blooms.


If you are new to paper piecing, this might be a great place for you to start.  My tutorial will take you through the paper piecing step by step with photographs.  The pattern is available as a pdf download on the Art Gallery Fabrics Blog.

  3. These look gorgeous. I was in Tacha's EPP class at FQ Retreat, and have continued the project, just need to keep going. It's a great project as it's portable and I can do it while 'watching' the children! thanks for the giveaway

  7. I just completed my first paper pieced block, and while it was tricky to start Iactually quite enjoyed it!

    Edit ... forgot to add that I do have some paper piecing expreience ... mostly in smaller projects, blocks and borders. I have not yet done a bed-size quilt in this method. Sew many possibilities ... :) Pat

  53. Would you say paper piecing is not a good first place to start quilting? I love this pattern, but I've never quilted before. Have to jump in somewhere! :)

  60. While I vocally stick to the line of "I don't like paper piecing", I'm working on a quilt that was template based that I have turned into paper piecing and it is much easier. I suppose I am a bit of a convert. Thanks for the giveaway chance!

  73. Unfortunately, I took a class at a conference. It was lots of people, yucky fabric, and the pieces were so tiny I never tried it again. That was about 8 years ago! I'm ready to try again! Thanks for the gorgeous giveaway! Mcantril@kc.rr.com

I've only been quilting a few years and my only experiences with paper piecing are hexagons (if that count:)) and I took Peggy Martin's Quick Strip Paper Piecing class through Craftsy but haven't had the time yet to try any of the projects!   88. Gorgeous pillows and fabrics. Already follow AGF on all that stuff! As for my experience with paper piecing: I love it and have really gotten into it lately. I have mainly made hexies but have done a few actual patterns. Once you start, it's addicting.

  114. I just finished paper piecing a Weeping Angel wall hanging for my son's birthday. Was lots of pieces with 21 large pieces to put together. I'm sure I made every mistake you can do with paper piecing and repeated them several times! I made friends with my stitch ripper! Those pillows look like they would be calming to piece!
